See ya all next year!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

We're headed out in the morning, driving 800 miles from Oregon to Utah. The weather over the next two days is supposed to be okay, but it might be iffy coming home next weekend. Say a prayer for good weather for us, if you think about it! We'll be home on the 7th.

I won't have any internet or even computer access while we're there!!!

Happy New Year to you all!

How morbid are you?

Wanna see what I did to my finger? If not, don't click, LOL

Finger 1

Finger 2

These were taken just now during my bandage changing, so it's been over 2 days since “the incident”.

Owwwwwwwwwwwieeeeeee

My finger hurts like you would not believe!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christmas eve afternoon I was peeling apples to make the apple pie for Christmas, and my brand-new uber-sharp vegetable peeler slipped off the top of the apple and WHACKED the end of my pinky finger right off. Seriously. OMGoodness it hurts!!!! Especially when the tylenol wears off.

DH was just about to leave work and head home when I did it, and I got a hold of my aunt/boss the nurse practitioner and she said she'd meet me at the clinic. DH got home just in time to drive me down there, thank goodness. She bandaged me up - there's nothing to stitch, since it was cut off, not just sliced open - and told me how to care for it over the next several days as it heals.

Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to mess up my typing, like I was afraid it would. I have a huge bandage (Hannah said I have two thumbs, it's so big, LOL), but I'm easily able to use my ring finger to type instead of my pinky. I just can't keep my hand down on the keyboard for very long or it starts to throb and I have to stop and elevate my hand again.

Busy-ness update!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Sorry for the lack of posting! I've been swamped, as usual, and especially so for this time of year! Let's see… spent several days working with a friend to get a huge scrapbook done for our Pastor's family, as they are moving away . Then I had to spend several more days working “overtime” to get caught up from working on the scrapbook , I'm completely caught up now, yay! I also had a sewing project I was working on, for our Christmas pictures - finally got that done a couple days ago and are having the pictures taken tonight.

Kids are doing ok, had a couple bouts of illness , but both got over that pretty quickly, thank goodness.

We're done with Christmas shopping, except for one last gift to pick up at the mall tonight. At least I know what it is and what store has it, so we won't be long. The kids are so excited about Christmas. Every where that we see lights or other decorations, both kids point and exclaim “There's more Christmas!”. Sarah is still pointing out Santa everywhere, and tells us that he's Bob.

We're also planning our trip to Provo, Utah and praying for cooperative weather. We're leaving Oregon on New Year's Day, and have a couple of high mountain passes to go through, which won't be bad as long as the roads are plowed and it isn't actively snowing. This trip is really important to several people, and it will be heartbreaking if we have to cancel for snow. Hehehe… if there's a blizzard on January 6, though, it won't hurt my feelings to have to spend an extra day or so there before coming home.

So, in case I don't get a chance to get back here and update again before then, from all of us, to all of you…

A visit to Santa

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

This year went a whole lot better than last year!  I think it helped that this year, “Santa” was a friend of ours, so after the initial running across the room screaming bloody murder, we were able to show Sarah that it was “just Bob” by having him take off his hat and beard.  They understand that he's just “Helping” Santa by being there dressed up.

4 days and counting

Sarah misplaced her binky on Friday, and we didn't find it until Sunday. I quickly put it out of sight, and we are now at 4 binky-less days. Yay!

Now to just get these two POTTY trained already. *sigh*
