I mentioned in my blog earlier today that I’ve thought of a reward for when I reach my goal… If you haven’t gone over to my raw blog to read about it, I want Patrice from Beautiful Life Images to shoot a family portrait for us. Got home tonight and checked all the blogs I read, and found that she’d posted the pictures of my girls! Yay!
Tonight is registration - I have NO idea how many kids are going to show up, and I sure hope I have enough supplies for the craft for the kids! I’m so disappointed that the caterpillars I ordered (twice!) from Insect Lore didn’t survive the heat. I need to get my money back on those. I was hoping to have some chrysalises (chrysali?) to show the kids tonight. We’re doing the Butterfly award. I have a great poster about the life cycle of the butterfly, and some photos, but that’s it. I hope it’s enough to keep the kids occupied tonight! I think for the first club meeting, I’m going to bring the sidewalk chalk and have the kids all go out in the parking lot and draw a giant butterfly together. Maybe I’ll have the main body shape drawn out and they can all color different sections of it. That way I don’t have to buy a bunch more craft supplies. And we have a ton of sidewalk chalk already.
On a completely unrelated note, I thought of the perfect reward for when I reach my goal weight. I posted it on my raw blog.
I can’t believe it’s been what, 3 weeks since I posted here? Yikes! Sorry about that. It’s just been nutso-busy around here.
I’m on the staff for the new Adventurer Club we’re starting up, so I’ve been to lots of planning meetings and training for that. It should be a lot of fun!
I’ve been swamped with work, too, and you know how that always keeps me away from my blog. Ugh!
I adopted a new style of eating recently, and I’m blogging about it separately. It’s going well, this is the end of the first week on it.
Sabbath on the way home from church, as we pulled up to a stop sign, Hannah said “Sssssstttt… Ooooopppp… That sign says STOP!” Wow! The WordWhammer game, and the educational shows they watch (Letter Factory, Talking Words Factory, Super Why!, Talking Words Factory 2: Code Word Caper) are actually teaching her something! We just picked up the Code Word Caper last week at Costco, and they are already asking to watch the “Silent E” video all the time.
Better get back to work… I’ll try to get over here more often!
It’s always fun to meet up with friends you haven’t seen in a long time. The friends we met for dinner tonight are two that I went to Academy with back in the late 1980s and haven’t seen in probably 15 years, if not 18 (since graduation). Patrice and Sam, along with their children, were passing through on their vacation, headed north to Washington. It was a lot of fun to sit down and visit with them, and talk about our kids and our lives and catch up a little bit. I’ve been enjoying Patrice’s blog for the past few months and have really come to admire her eye for photography. I’m definitely going to save my pennies and have her do a real photo shoot with the girls one of the next times we’re down visiting family in southern California, especially after seeing her in action a little bit after dinner!
We drove a couple miles down the road from where we had dinner to a pear orchard where Patrice took the girls out among the trees and spent a few minutes with each of them. I didn’t get to see any previews but just from the reactions the girls were giving her, I can hardly wait to see the photos!
