Headed to the Coast
Friday, October 31st, 2008We’re packing up to head over to the Oregon Coast this afternoon - one of my favorite places! It’s supposed to rain all weekend, but oh well. Rainy days at the Oregon Coast are a lot different than a rainy day at the beach in SoCal. We’re going to be staying in a motor home with friends - hopefully our campfires won’t get rained on too badly!
We’ll be visiting the Gold Beach church while we’re there - the pastor there was the one who married us, and was our youth pastor from the time I was 14 years old. He and his wife were missionaries to Nepal before that, and they’ve planned to retire there in a couple of years. They’ve received a call, though, to go back there now, as missionaries again. They’re leaving in January. So, our family, including my parents and Grandma, are going over to see them before they leave. They’re coming over for the day, though, not camping with us.
Just got back from the clinic; Sarah has bronchitis. I think it’s aspiration bronchitis - she was perfectly fine yesterday. Even today she has no fever, her ears, throat and nose are fine - it’s just the rattly, raspy cough. On the way home last night she was drinking some water and choked on it. I’m pretty sure she inhaled it, because she had a major coughing fit. Within an hour, she was wheezy and raspy, and woke up around 3 a.m. sounding horrible, wheezing and rasping and rattling in her chest. She’s not coughing a lot, but when she does it sounds wet. Anyway, we got her hooked up with some albuterol for the wheezing, and I think they’re going to try to get us a nebulizer to use for breathing treatments as necessary. Doesn’t hurt that two of the ladies we’ll be camping with, are nurses!
Better get finished packing… we leave in just about 4 hours!
