Dress Shirt Dresses
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009I have some material that I bought several years ago and I’m finally feeling motivated to get it made into something. I decided I would make sundresses for the girls, but I didn’t want to go out and buy a pattern, so I set about searching online. In my searching, I came across a post on a crafting message board entitled “button shirt to toddler dress recon“. Intrigued, I followed the link.
Men’s dress shirts, recommissioned as a little girl’s sundress? What a fantastic idea! I was hooked! I got the girls ready and we hopped in the car right then and headed off to Goodwill to see what we could find. We settled on two Hawaiian print shirts and came back home to get started. I washed the shirts that night and worked on the first shirt the next day. It ended up only taking about 3 hours of sewing time, and came out so cute! I made the next one this morning and we went out to the park this afternoon to take some pictures before meeting with the home school group to play.
Take a hop over to the Photo Gallery and take a peek! I plan to raid Charlie’s closet for the shirts he hasn’t worn in 10 years or more - chances are #1 he can’t wear them anymore, and #2 no man in his right mind would wear it these days, LOL! But they’ll be adorable as a sundress!
